Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) is the process of periodically testing electrical appliances. This helps to ensure they are effectively maintained and safe for use within the appropriate environment according to manufacturer specifications. PAT Testing is an essential aspect of every company’s health & safety policy to ensure that staff and members of the public are not harmed by electrical equipment on the premises.

Appliances should be Fixed Wire and PAT tested on a regular basis to ensure that your company:

• complies with the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989

• satisfies your insurance company requirements

• minimises the risk of fire and injury caused by electrical appliances
